SOUTHERN PACIFIC AND SANTA FE

SOUTHERN PACIFIC

YARD

****SP Oakdale – as the operator on the SP side of Oakdale its your job to coordinate the moves over the SP Interchange track. Cars will arrive on four SP Freights that will need to be interchanged with the Sierra Yard Operator. Cars from two Sierra Freights, Frt #5 and 7, and from local industries will need to be picked up by these same four SP Freights. In addition to working closely with the SP Freight Operators you will also handle the pick ups and set outs at the various industries on the SP side of Oakdale. And just like the Sierra Yard Operator you must be sure that the Sierra Passenger trains can arrive and depart on time from the SP Depot. There are also two SP Passenger Trains that run through Oakdale and two SP Perishable Freights that run through Oakdale. Although these four trains have no work in Oakdale as the SP Operator it’s your responsible to to make sure they can run through Oakdale without any undo delays. Like the Sierra Yard Operator you are provided Switch Lists for all outbound SP freights and the cars needed by the Sierra Yard Operator for the Sierra Frts #6 and #8.

Morning SP Trains

** SP Westbound Frt – Your staged train runs from Merced through Oakdale to Stockton. In Oakdale you drop off cars for the two Sierra Eastbound Freights, #6 and #8. You pick up a cut of cars that have been set out by SP Oakdale Operator from the SP Interchange tracks. These cars are headed for Stockton.

* SP Eastbound Perishable – Your staged train runs from Stockton through Oakdale to Merced. Between Stockton and Oakdale you also run through two small valley towns of Meinke Junction and Farmington. You will have a set out at one of these towns but will have no work in Oakdale.

* SP Westbound Passenger – Your staged train runs from Merced through Oakdale to Stockton. In Oakdale you do have a Station Stop at the SP Depot.

*** SP Eastbound Peddler Freight – As a local SP Freight you will have set outs and pick ups at Meinke Jct and at Farmington. At these two locations you do all the work yourself. In Oakdale you drop off local industry cars for both the Sierra side and the SP side of Oakdale. The SP Oakdale Operator will have a cut of cars for you to pick from these same industries. Once this exchange takes place you are off to Merced.

SP Afternoon Trains

* SP Westbound Perishable – your staged train will start its run from Merced and then will run through Oakdale. As you proceed towards Stockton you will have a pick up in either Farmington or Meinke Jct.

**SP Eastbound Passenger – Like it counterpart the Eastbound Passenger train only as a Station Stop at Oakdale. Once your train arrives in Merced the second half of your job starts – the Riverbank Turn. As the Riverbank turn you run your staged train from Riverbank into Oakdale. Your train will have cars for the ATSF Interchange in the Sierra Yard and the local industries served by the Sierra Yard. You will coordinate your work with the Sierra Yard Operator. After setting out your cars in the yard you will pick up a cut of cars made up by the Sierra Yard Operator. The cars going back to Riverbank have come from Sierra Frt #5 and the industries served by the Sierra Yard. Prior to heading back to Riverbank you will turn your engine on the Oakdale Wye. On occasion you will also bring into Oakdale an ATSF business car that will need to be turned on the Wye as well before returning to Riverbank.

** SP Eastbound Freight – Your staged train will depart Stockton and runs to Oakdale. In Oakdale you drop off a cut of cars for the SP Interchange and will pick up a cut of cars that have been set out by the SP Oakdale Operator. These cars will come from the SP Interchange and Sierra Frt #5. Once this exchange takes place you are off to Merced.

***SP Westbound Peddler Freight – Like it counterpart in the morning you will drop off a cut a cars in Oakdale for the various industries in Oakdale and will pick up a cut of cars made up by the SP Oakdale Operator.
